Entry 18: A Cozy Local Favorite: Midtown Coffee in the Arkansas River Valley

Enjoying a quiet moment in a local coffee shop is one of life’s simplest pleasures. There’s something peaceful about the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the hum of conversation, and the calm that comes with sipping something warm while watching the world go by. For me, Midtown Coffee offers that exact vibe. I’ve sampled several drinks now, and I keep coming back to two favorites: Dirty Chai – smooth, warm, and perfectly spiced Pablo Honey with heavy cream – rich, sweet, and seriously good My kids have loved every drink or treat they’ve tried (no surprise there), and the service is always exceptional . Entry 17: Unplugged at Longpool Recreation Area - Dover, Arkansas

Fun Fact: Longpool gets its name from the “long pool” stretch of the Big Piney Creek that winds through the area—one of the most scenic waterways in the Ozarks. On Monday afternoon, I canceled a few meetings, packed up the kids, and traded screen time for sunshine. Just a short drive north, Longpool Recreation Area offered the perfect escape. Surrounded by the Ozark National Forest , this spot has been a beloved destination for generations. Swimming, History, and Big Piney Creek Big Piney Creek , a nationally designated Scenic and Recreational River , flows right through the heart of Longpool.
