Entry 123 - Exploring Lake Chicot State Park & Lake Village: Delta Nature, History, and Southern Charm
Nestled in the southeastern corner of Arkansas, Lake Chicot State Park and the nearby town of Lake Village offer a blend of natural beauty, rich history, and Southern charm. Though it's a bit of a drive from my home, the experience was well worth the trip. Lake Chicot State Park: Nature's Serene Retreat Lake Chicot State Park, established in 1957, spans over 200 acres along the shores of Lake Chicot—the largest natural lake in Arkansas and the largest oxbow lake in North America . Formed centuries ago when the Mississippi River changed its course, this C-shaped lake stretches approximately 20 miles, offering a haven for anglers, birdwatchers, and nature enthusiasts. During my visit, I embarked on an early morning hike along the Delta Woodlands Trail.
